Cross-Modal Word Learning:

Children in this study will learn names for visual objects and then examine hidden objects with their hands. This study examines children's ability to make connections between their senses, particularly when learning and extending new words.


**I am currently recruiting 3- and 4-year-olds for this study.

Discourse of Discovery:

Children in this study will make various discoveries about novel objects/toys. This study examines the information children convey about these discoveries as well as their expectations about the questions they might be asked.This study lasts approximately 15-20 minutes.

Word-Learning Strategies:
Children in this study will see pairs of objects on a computer screen. Children will be asked to look at one of the objects, and their eye-movements will be recorded. This study examines the types of strategies children use to learn and extend new words. This study lasts approximately 10 minutes.
